In celebration of National Poetry Month (April), the library invites the entire campus community to participate in the 10th Annual Kumquat Poetry Challenge. Each year we publish a variety of poems by WCC students, faculty, staff, and board members. Faculty, please pass news of the challenge on to your students!
The challenge: write a poem which includes all ten of the below words:
You must include all ten words. Prefixesand suffixes are okay provided that they do not change the spelling of the root word.
Your poem must have a title. "Untitled" is okay but indicate that it's the title.
With your submission, you mustinclude:
1. Your name.
2. Your connection to WCC.
3. A brief biography written in the third person (~50 words, subject to editing).
4. Whether you want to opt out of having your name, poem, or both published on the library website if you win (no need to say anything about this unless you are opting out).
The challenge is open to all past and present WCC students, faculty, staff, and board members. Poems ranging from serious to silly are welcome.
While we strive to print all poems received we will be able to print only a selection of poems if we receive a large number of submissions.
Open Mic Publishing Party time and date to be announced later.
